Extra, overweight or oversized baggage on an Aeromexico flight?

Preparing for a trip can be full of excitement, but sometimes you get heavy-handed when it comes to packing, ending up with extra. If an adventure with Aeromexico is on the horizon, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with their policy regarding excess baggage fees.

Fees for overweight baggage at the Mexican carrier vary depending on the class or fare of your airline ticket, and are charged when passengers exceed the weight or number of bags allowed for their ticket class. It is important to note that these charges may vary depending on the class of travel but also the type of itinerary (domestic or international) and the travel period.

How to buy excess baggage with Aeromexico?

Whether you have already validated your reservation or are considering making one, you can personalize your baggage allowance by adding as many extras as you want through simple clicks:

In Aeromexico’s online booking platform, enter your reservation reference number and your last name to access your flight information. You will then access a page allowing you to view and manage your reservation.

– Select excess baggage option

Now, look for the “Purchase Excess Baggage” option and click on it. You will access a page where you can view the different baggage allowance options and the corresponding fees.

Review the excess baggage options available and choose the one that suits your needs. Aeromexico offers different weight allowances and prices, this gives you the opportunity to select the alternative that best suits your requirements.

– Make a payment

The next step is to pay your baggage supplement purchase costs. Aeromexico accepts various payment methods, including credit cards and online banking. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the payment process.

Important information to remember

– Additional taxes are applied by Aeromexico for the purchase of excess baggage, but only when you are traveling on a domestic route in Mexico.

– No additional tax is therefore applied to international flights and connections.

– It is not possible to transport baggage whose total dimensions (length + width + depth) exceed 158 cm (62 linear). Oversized baggage items are generally transported by freight

– The maximum number of pieces that a passenger can check in is 8. Thus, the additional number of suitcases/pieces are transported as cargo, the same for baggage weighing more than 45kg.

– It is not permitted for the passenger to group multiple bags and check them in as one set.

– The weight limit for baggage carried on flights operated from or departing from an airport in Europe is 32kg.
